North Carolina, USA – 2017 North American Formula 1000 Championship runner-up Tim Pierce announces move to team JDR for the 2018 season.
Area 81 Racing’s championship pedigree is sure to add even more wins to the ever growing JDR scoreboard. For almost a decade, Area 81 Racing has been the well known duo of #18 Tim Pierce and #81 Richard Franklin in their Waterfall Security Solutions Formula 1000 championship cars. Racking up multiple SARRC championships, SCCA race wins, and Driver of the Year awards, Area 81 Racing has shown their ability to win at every level of competition.
Always working towards improvement, Tim Pierce exclaimed, “I feel there is so much more potential with the JDR.” Changing car manufacturers is always a challenge, and Pierce will be without his long-standing teammate, as Richard Franklin has also announce retirement. “It’s a challenge, and a huge loss, but I know Area 81 Racing is looking forward to the challenge.”
Area 81 Racing and Team JDR are sure to see success in the very near future. Pierce says he will retain the #18 with plans to hold the #81 in reserve for use by “possibly Richard in a few races, who knows.”
Rumors say the new #18 Area 81 Racing – Waterfall Security Solutions – JDR will be a smoky dark grey, a great look to sneak through the field. Look for Area 81 Racing to unveil their new 2018 JDR F1000 at the opening round of the 2018 North American Formula 1000 Championship presented by American Racer Tire the weekend of March 17/18 at Road Atlanta.
